// Amy Poehler’s book Yes Please. I started reading this on Monday, and while I’m not too far into it yet (helllooo winter and its demotivating effects on..well..everything), I’m loving it! I’ve never been a huge fan of Parks and Rec and to be honest, I rarely watch shows like SNL, but Poehler is hilarious.

// Let’s be honest: writing an about page is one of the hardest things we have to do as bloggers and/or online business owners. At least personally, talking about myself feels really awkward and I’m not sure how to make my life sound interesting. Lucky for us though, Kate has some great tips on how to fix the four most common about page mistakes.

// I absolutely love this J. K. Rowling quote, and the gorgeous image from here.

//Social media can be hard, especially with so many different platforms to choose from and figure out. It seems like as soon as you figure one out, three new ones pop up and in blogging it can be easy to feel like you need to be on all the sites. But as she always does, Regina has 33 tips on what to do about your social media presence when you want to get serious about your social media presence.

I loved Yes, Please! There is 1 quote from that book that I live by. Have you heard of Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls? I also hate writing about myself, let alone talking about myself! Love the JK Rowling quote – so true! There is so much emphasis on a person’s looks that overshadows someone’s personality – let us, as a society, get over that please!

I haven’t – is it a book? I’ll have to check it out!

And you’re right – our society has this near-single minded focus on a person’s appearance. It’s ridiculous – we place it above everything else. Especially with the whole “fat” thing – I’m sick of hearing people claim that “ooo well it’s just not healthy” Right, because I’m SURE you’d be saying the same thing if that person weighed 100 lbs and was smoking.

  • Becca Dorr

That’s the first time I’ve seen that quote and it is amazing. Thanks for sharing it.

    • Kiersten McMonagle

You’re welcome! I saw it on Pinterest the other day and loved it

  • Lani

Thanks for the links, as always, so good. <3

    • Kiersten McMonagle

Thanks, Lani! I’m glad you enjoy them :)

  • Jessica Marie

I love that quote too. Pinning it. :)

Isn’t it great? Definitely one of my favorites!

I know when I used to be heavier, I wrote that quote down in a notebook to remind myself.

  • Sarah @ Seriously, Sarah?

I am so late to the party, but I read my first post by Regina (about SEO) last week and it was awesome. I am definitely keeping up with her now.
I love the post about the about me pages. I redid mine last fall. I’m not trying sell/promote anything other than just letting people know who I am, but those are all great points–especially the part about everyone having a story. I tried to show what set me apart from other bloggers. I am toying around with redoing it, but not quite yet!
Also, that JK Rowling quote should be required reading or something for humanity. Can we get that as PSA commercial? It seems a lot more important than some PSA’s!
